The spirit of nature carved into wood

The Green Man is one of the oldest and most enduring symbols of nature in European folklore. Found in ancient churches, stone carvings, and woodland traditions, he is often portrayed as a face emerging from leaves and branches, representing renewal, growth, and the living spirit of the natural world.

This pendant is my interpretation of the Green Man, carved with a realistic face gradually emerging from oak leaves. Rather than depicting a separate figure surrounded by nature, the design allows the face and foliage to become part of one another, as if the spirit itself is growing from the wood.

The oak leaves were chosen intentionally. For centuries, the oak has symbolized strength, endurance, and deep roots, qualities often associated with wisdom and the enduring cycles of nature. Together, the face and leaves create a symbol of connection between humanity and the living world around us.

Every detail is carved by hand using traditional tools, allowing the sculpture to develop slowly and organically. The result is a pendant that feels both ancient and alive, inspired by mythology, forests, and the timeless relationship between people and nature.

Carved from Italian walnut wood, known for its rich brown tones and elegant grain, each piece carries warmth, depth, and natural character. The wood itself becomes part of the artwork, giving every Green Man its own unique presence.
